Father, son dead after shooting in Texas City

TEXAS CITY, Texas — A father and his teenage son are dead after a shooting at their home in Texas City early Monday.

The Texas City Police Department responded to the tragic scene on 10th Avenue North near 3rd Street North around 1:20 a.m.

A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed and his 41-year-old father also died, possibly from a medical episode. An autopsy is being done to determine the man’s cause of death.

The Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims as Joshua Gonzales and his dad Jay Gonzales.

Investigators were questioning the alleged shooter but no charges had been filed at last check.

TCPD said there was no threat to the public.
