Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6001 Southwest Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 6001 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) service road about 2 a.m. on Monday (Jan. 20).

The identity of the deceased male, 50, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer N. Solomon reported:

The male, a pedestrian, was standing in a moving lane of traffic at the above address when he was struck by a gray Toyota RAV4 traveling northbound.  Paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.

The male driver, 26, remained at the scene.  He did not shows signs of intoxication, and was questioned and released.

The investigation is continuing.
