Investigation into Fatal Crash at 1100 West Sam Houston Parkway North

Houston police are investigating the fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred at 1100 West Sam Houston Parkway North service road (Beltway 8) about 11:45 p.m. on Sunday (January 19).

The identity of the deceased male, 54, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer D. Thompson reported:

Officers responded to a report of an unresponsive male in the main lanes of the service road at the above address and found the male lying in the roadway.  Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man deceased at the scene.  

Further investigation revealed the driver of an unknown black vehicle struck the pedestrian and then fled the scene without stopping to render aid.
