La Porte Fire Department Releases 2024 Annual Report Highlighting Achievements and Community Impact

The La Porte Fire Department (LPFD) has released its 2024 Annual Report, providing an overview of the department’s accomplishments, emergency response efforts, and community engagement throughout the year. The report highlights key successes, including improved firefighting capabilities, enhanced training programs, and expanded community outreach.

In 2024, LPFD remained committed to keeping the community safe, even in the face of challenges brought by Hurricane Beryl. The storm led to a 16% increase in emergency calls, but firefighters responded quickly and ensured that essential services continued without interruption.

The department ordered a new ladder truck to replace an older one, but it won’t arrive until 2028. Once delivered, it will give firefighters more options to respond to emergencies more effectively. Additionally, new grass trucks were put into service this year to replace two that were lost in a grass fire. These upgrades reflect LPFD’s ongoing efforts to improve emergency response and public safety.

Throughout the year, LPFD actively connected with the community by participating in events such as the Mardi Gras Parade & Main Street Event, the La Porte Baseball Association Opening Day Parade & Festivities, and the Sylvan Beach Day Parade & Festivities. These events gave firefighters a chance to meet residents, promote fire safety, and strengthen community relationships.

Fire Chief Chris Pettis emphasized the department’s dedication, stating, “Our firefighters work tirelessly to protect and serve the residents of La Porte, and this report highlights their commitment. Despite the challenges we faced in 2024, we have continued to improve our operations, increase public safety, and engage with the community in meaningful ways.”

The 2024 Annual Report provides a detailed look at the department’s progress and ongoing efforts to keep La Porte safe. Residents are encouraged to view the full report to learn more about LPFD’s work and future plans.
