Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 2599 Wheeler Avenue

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 2599 Wheeler Avenue about 2:35 p.m. last Friday (April 4).  

The victim is identified as Melvin Jackson, 43.  

HPD Homicide Division Detectives G. Rangel and H. Montealegre reported: 

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound lying in the roadway.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the man, later identified as Mr. Jackson, deceased.  

A preliminary investigation determined the shooting may have resulted from a prior argument at a nearby convenience store.  

At this time, there is no known suspect description.
