86-year-old woman dies after being hit by vehicle in Walmart parking lot

An 86-year-old woman died Monday after being hit by a car in Baytown.

It happened around 11:30 a.m. when the woman was hit in the Walmart parking lot on Garth Road. She was a pedestrian when the crash happened.

Baytown police said officers got to the scene within minutes and found the woman, who had severe injuries. Bystanders and first responders tried to help her, but she ended up dying at the scene.

Investigators said the driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with authorities. It’s unclear if charges will be filed.

The woman’s identity hasn’t been released.
