Performance Of The Night: Zhang Mingyang

Zhang Mingyang did it again. He moves to 2-0 inside the Octagon with another knockout, making it 11-straight first round finishes and 18th stoppage overall. Zhang caught Ozzy Diaz as he was stepping forward with a beautifully timed short elbow, putting the newcomer to the floor. “Mountain Tiger” has quickly made himself a known prospect and has massive potential in the light heavyweight division. 

Performance Of The Night: Gabriella Fernandes

Entering the fight as a massive underdog, Gabriella Fernandes shocked the crowd when she stopped highly touted prospect Wang Cong in the second round. Wang’s skill was on display early, but the Brazilian kept her composure and found her shot. Fernandes landed a head kick, which dropped Wang, followed by a devastating straight left hand. Immediately after, Fernandes jumped on Wang to secure the rear-naked choke. 

Performance Of The Night: Muslim Salikhov

It wasn’t the easiest night to decide who earned bonuses, but Dagestan’s Muslim Salikhov made it a guarantee. Known for his diverse striking, he delivered again with a spinning wheel kick knockout in the first round, earning him his second straight victory.

Performance Of The Night: Shi Ming

You only get one first impression and Shi Ming is going to be remembered for years to come after hers. She earned a UFC contract with one of the most brutal head kick knockouts you’ll ever see. With the win, Shi becomes the first female tournament winner in Road to UFC history.

With a star-studded, record-breaking audience looking on, the UFC’s 8th event at Madison Square Garden was a perfect example of the magic that happens when the UFC lands in New York City.
