Barbers Hill schools shine in Christmas on the Hill Parade
The Christmas spirit lit up Mont Belvieu during the annual Christmas on the Hill Parade on December 8, as Barbers Hill schools stole the show, capturing six of the eight coveted awards. This year’s parade, themed “Holiday Movies!”, showcased creativity, festive cheer, and a touch of Hollywood magic.
Barbers Hill Intermediate School South claimed the top honor, being named Best Picture for its Minions-themed float. Bright yellow characters from the beloved animated franchise danced and celebrated amidst a backdrop of whimsical holiday decor, earning the school the title of best overall float in the parade.
The parade’s Director’s Cut award, given for a uniquely standout entry, went to Barbers Hill Early Childhood Center. Judges praised the float for its unexpected charm and imaginative interpretation of the theme, delighting onlookers with its creativity.
Bringing nostalgic warmth to the streets, Barbers Hill Elementary School South received the Classic Holiday Spirit award for a float that embodied the heart of holiday movies, while Barbers Hill Intermediate School North was recognized as a Cinematic Masterpiece for its uniquely designed entry.
The Spirit of the Season award was earned by Barbers Hill Elementary North, whose “Suesstastical” float transformed the streets into Whoville, with an ensemble of merry characters spreading Christmas cheer far and near.
Adding a musical flair, the Holiday Harmony award went to the Barbers Hill High School Girls Soccer Team, whose float incorporated joyful holiday tunes that resonated with the crowd.
The community’s love for the parade was matched by its generosity, as all entry fees were donated to the West Chambers County Food Pantry to help local families in need. Winners were honored at the Mont Belvieu City Council meeting on December 9 and will be recognized by the Barbers Hill ISD school board on December 16.
Barbers Hill ISD’s strong presence at the parade underscores the district’s commitment to community spirit and creativity. Each float not only brought joy to paradegoers but also highlighted the dedication and talent of students and staff alike.
Mark your calendars—next year’s Christmas on the Hill Parade will return on December 7, 2025, promising another unforgettable celebration of community and holiday cheer.
