3-Alarm Warehouse Fire in The Spring Branch East Area
On April 17, 2025, at 7:56 a.m., firefighters arrived at 2519 McAllister Road to find heavy smoke and fire coming from a large one-story warehouse. They made a defensive attack on the fire and requested a second alarm. All employees and occupants were safely outside and accounted for. Rescue crews opened doors and siding on the warehouse to access the seat of the fire. A nearby structure was checked for extension, with none found.
The Houston Health Department and HFD Hazardous Material Teams monitored the air/water quality at the scene and in the nearby neighbourhoods, reporting no concerns or toxic results. Firefighters faced additional challenges with at least two non-functioning hydrants in the area, and the fire was upgraded to a third alarm. A drone was used to survey the fire scene, finding portions of the roof severely sagging and inward-slanting exterior walls.
Crews rotated through rehab as they controlled the fire from the exterior and remained on scene until about 2 p.m. to ensure all the smouldering hot spots were fully extinguished. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
One firefighter was transported to the hospital in stable condition for heat and carbon monoxide exposure.
130 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 24, 28, 31, 34, 37, 38, 50, 57, 62, 77, Rescue 10, Heavy Rescue 11, Hazmat 22 and 66, Rehab 42, and the HFD Command Van.
Houston Mayor John Whitmire and Fire Chief Thomas Muñoz responded to support and thank the firefighters for their hard work.
