Aggravated Robbery Suspect Arrested in Recently Released Case
ARRESTED: Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in an aggravated robbery that occurred on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at around 2:00 pm at a sandwich shop, located at the 5300 block of Antoine, in Houston, Texas.
The suspect, Eligio Alfredo Ayala, 37, is charged with aggravated robbery in the 184th State District Court. Eligio Ayala’s booking photo is attached in this release.
According to the complainant, she was working at a sandwich shop when two unknown males entered the restaurant and first acted like customers. The males walked up to the employee, who was standing behind the counter, displayed handguns, and demanded the money from the register. The employee complied and gave the suspects the money. The suspect then fled the location in an unknown direction.
A video of the robbery was released to the public on the Houston Police Robbery Division social media platforms on October 3, 2024. On October 12, 2024, Houston Police Robbery Detectives were conducting a follow up investigation on newly developed leads of the suspects possible identity and location based off the video on the Houston Police Robbery Facebook page. Robbery Detectives were conducting surveillance and observed the same male from the robbery walking across the roadway at 5500 Antoine. Houston Police Officer’s from the North Patrol Division responded to the scene and detained the suspect, who was then identified as Eligio Alfredo Ayala, 37.
It was then discovered that Eligio Alfredo Ayala, 37, had a warrant out for his arrest and was placed into custody for further investigation of the aggravated robbery. Eligio Alfredo Ayala, 37, was then identified as the suspect in the robbery and confessed to his involvement. Charges of aggravated robbery were then filed, and he was transported to the Harris County Jail.
Note: The identity of the second suspect in the robbery remains unknown and is still under investigation.
