Baytown Police Arrest Suspect in January Homicide

The Baytown Police Department arrests 31-year-old Ty Vaughn of Baytown in connection with the homicide of 27-year-old Luis Banos, also of Baytown. Vaughn is charged with murder.

On January 14, 2025, at approximately 5:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Crosby Cedar Bayou in response to a report of a deceased male. The initial caller, the victim’s fiancé, later identified as Ty Vaughn, stated he had found his fiancé deceased from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Vaughn was detained for questioning. Throughout the investigation, Vaughn provided inconsistent statements. Detectives later determined the cause of death to be a homicide. On March 7, 2025, investigators arrested Ty Vaughn. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has accepted a murder charge against him.

Chief of Police, John Stringer stated: “On behalf of the entire Command Staff, we are extremely proud of the teamwork demonstrated by the men and women of the Baytown Police Department in the quick response and investigation that led to this arrest. We have committed ourselves to ensuring that violent offenders are identified and brought to justice through timely, professional police services.”
