City Council Approved an ordinance authorizing payment to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for the City of Baytown’s annual water system fee

On Thursday, the City Council Approved an ordinance authorizing payment to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for the City of Baytown’s annual water system fee.

This proposed ordinance approves a payment to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (“TCEQ”) for the City of Baytown’s annual water system fee in the amount of $94,318.14.

The annual water system fee is used to fund a state program for collection and analysis of drinking water chemicals, review of system data for evaluation of sampling waivers, inspection of public water systems, review of new systems, review of major improvements to existing systems, and technical assistance as needed.

The annual water system fee is assessed annually, in accordance with Title 30, Chapter 290, Subchapter E, Rule 290.51 of the Texas Administrative Code.  The fee is mandatory and must be paid to maintain the City’s license.
