City Council Approved the Sixth Amendment to the Lease of Premises with Solid Waste, Ltd. for the Baytown Marina
On Thursday, the City Council Approved the Sixth Amendment to the Lease of Premises with Solid Waste, Ltd. for the Baytown Marina.
This proposed ordinance authorizes the Sixth Amendment to the Lease of Premises with Solid Waste, Ltd. Inc., for the Baytown Marina at Bayland Island.
On February 4, 2002, the City of Baytown (the “City”) entered into a Lease of Premises Agreement with Solid Waste for the lease and operation of the Harbor Master Facility located on a portion of Bayland Island (the “Contract”). The First Amendment to the Contract in March 2012 was approved by Council as the Marina reopened following Hurricane Ike. The Second Amendment to the Contract in 2019 provided a two-year extension, which allowed the continued operation of the marina. The Third Amendment in 2022 provided an additional one (1) year extension. The Fourth Amendment to the Contract was passed in 2023 allowing a one (1) year extension. The Fifth Amendment to the Contract was passed in 2024 allowing a one (1) year extension.
As the City continues its efforts to facilitate development activities in the Bayland Island area, we anticipate future development decisions will need to include the operation of the marina. While those efforts continue, City staff believe it is appropriate to extend this lease on a month-to-month basis for up to an additional one (1) year period. This extension will provide time to consider options for the marina operations in conjunction with the ongoing development activities in the area.
