City Council authorized Change Order No. 2 for the Reconstruction of Narcille Street and Bay Oaks Harbor Project with Lucas Construction Company, Inc.
On Thursday, the City Council authorized Change Order No. 2 for the Reconstruction of Narcille Street and Bay Oaks Harbor Project with Lucas Construction Company, Inc.
This proposed ordinance authorizes Change Order No. 2 for the Reconstruction of Narcille Street and Bay Oaks Harbor Project with Lucas Construction Company, Inc., which will result in a reduction of cost in the amount of $333,629.00. This will reduce the total contract amount to $5,666,370.99 and complete the project.
This adjustment follows a detailed field verification of the 2020 construction survey, which identified that certain quantities and line items were overestimated in the original bid. As the project progressed, several planned items were determined to be unnecessary, and adjustments were made to account for changes such as the development of nearby properties, which required modifications to driveway quantities.
This change order ensures the contract reflects the actual work performed by Lucas Construction Company Inc. It aligns the project costs with the scope of work necessary to complete the project, including revisions based on updated field conditions. The adjustments were made to ensure fiscal responsibility and proper allocation of city resources. Reduction in cost savings was achieved without compromising the integrity or scope of the project. The revised contract value accurately represents the work completed, ensuring transparency and accountability in the city’s contractual obligations.
The original contract was approved by City Council on February 9, 2023, in the amount of $5,999,999.99. Change Order No. 1 was a no-cost change order, that added three (3) additional working days, for a total of four hundred fifty-three (453) completion days. Change Order No. 2 will reduce the contract amount by $333,629.00, resulting in a final cost of $5,666,370.99 for the project.
The purpose of this Change Order is to facilitate the closeout of the project.
