Investigation into Vehicle Pursuit in the 14000 block of SH 6

League City Police Officers have arrested 24-year-old Edward Dowdy of Texas City. Dowdy was charged with Evading Arrest w/Vehicle ($50,000 Bond) and Unlawful Carrying of Weapon ($2,500 Bond).

On February 14, 2025, at approximately 4:50 a.m., the League City Police Department was notified by the Texas City Police Department that they were in a pursuit Northbound on SH 146 approaching FM 646. TCPD advised they were pursuing a yellow Chevy Camaro driving with its headlights off. TCPD then broadcasted they lost sight of the Chevy as it was traveling Westbound on FM 517.

Dickinson Police Department advised they located the vehicle near FM 646 and SH 3, but lost sight of the Chevy shortly after. LCPD Officer Thomas located the Chevy driving Northbound without headlights on SH 3 approaching League City Pkwy. Officer Thomas activated his emergency lights and began pursuing the Chevy. LCPD officers pursued the Chevy onto IH 45, through Dickinson, and into Texas City. Ultimately the Chevy continued into Santa Fe and came to a stop at Arcadia First Baptist Church in the 14000 block of SH 6.

The driver, later identified as Edward Dowdy, exited the vehicle and attempted to run away. LCPD officers then deployed a taser which was effective in safely placing Dowdy in custody without further incident. EMS assessed Dowdy for injuries at the scene and cleared him before he was transported to the League City Jail. Two handguns were subsequently located and seized from inside the Chevy.
