Raymond Garivey Appointed as New Chief of Kemah Police Department

The City of Kemah is proud to announce the appointment of Raymond Garivey as the new Chief of the Kemah Police Department. Chief Garivey brings over two decades of law enforcement experience and a distinguished record of community engagement to his new role.

Chief Garivey was officially appointed at the January 22, 2025, Kemah City Council meeting.

A public swearing-in ceremony will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Kemah Community Center, located at 800 Harris Avenue. Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to a meet-and-greet session to welcome Chief Garivey to the community.

About Chief Raymond Garivey:


Chief Garivey began his law enforcement career in 1995 and has since served in various capacities, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to public safety and community-oriented policing. Prior to his appointment in Kemah, he served as the Chief of Police in Jamaica Beach, Texas, where he was recognized for his advancements in law enforcement operations, community policing efforts, and enhanced public safety initiatives.

Throughout his career, Chief Garivey has been honored with numerous accolades, including being voted as the Best Chief/Police Officer in Brazoria County for two consecutive years. He is committed to fostering strong relationships between the police department and the community, emphasizing transparency, trust, and mutual respect.
