Speaker Johnson Announces New Policy Director
WASHINGTON — Speaker Johnson released the following statement announcing Bill Duhnke as the new Policy Director for the Speaker’s Office:
“Bill Duhnke is, and has been, a trusted advisor to me and many other leaders in Washington for years, and I’m proud to announce he will be the new Policy Director for the Speaker’s Office. He has a distinguished career of service in the United States Navy and on Capitol Hill. Bill’s wealth of experience makes him well-equipped to tackle this critical role and continue to help deliver America First policy priorities.”
Background:
- Duhnke served as the Chairman of Public Company Accounting Oversight Board from January 2018 to June 2021.
- He served as Republican staff director and general counsel for several major U.S. Senate Committees, including Appropriations; Rules and Administration; Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; and Select Committee on Intelligence.
- From 1984 to 1991, Duhnke served in the U.S. Navy after having graduated first in his class as a Distinguished Naval Graduate from Aviation Officer Candidate School. His last assignment before completing his naval service as a Lieutenant was in the White House.
- He served on the Presidential Commission on the Assignment of Women in the Armed Forces, and the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission from 1992-1995.
- Duhnke earned his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and his J.D. from The Catholic University Columbus School of Law.
